 There are few situations that can ignite our desire to dance like seeing a passionate couple dancing together. Whether through a performance or just watching a couple with talent and chemistry on the floor, these little morsels of creative expression can sometimes inspire us to improve our own dance.
Unfortunately, we cannot simply walk out our front door at anytime and watch a stunning dance performance. These moments are sometimes few and far between. There is however, another way to find such inspiration. This way can be equally compelling and is becoming more prolific by each passing day.
As a dance instructor I have had the opportunity to hear many reasons for why people make the decision to learn ballroom dance. A surprising number of people have been inspired to step into this new world of partnership dancing simply from what they have seen in the media.
In past years ballroom dancing could be found on Tv or in movies every now and again. There was the occasional PBS program showcasing dancers at the Ohio Star Ball as well as a Ballroom related movie released about once every year or two. Today though, there are multiple ballroom related programs being aired even during prime time. In contrast to even a few years ago, several ballroom dance movies are now being released per year.
It is evident that ballroom dancing has reached the masses. Because of its increasing popularity, it is now easier than ever before to find inspiration to dance in the comfort of our home. The following list is a compilation of some ballroom movies. This list is not comprehensive but instead a sampler platter to wet your appetite. So rent a movie, connect with your own reason for wanting to glide across the floor and come join us in the studio; because right now ballroom is hot hot hot.
